Hi, I am working on getting a customer's postcard mailings. They were kind enough to give me the previous vendor's invoice. It lists the postage at an average of $0.21 per piece and I cannot figure how they can get the postage that low. Any ideas?
    Thanks,

Are you presorting the mail? The 5 Digit SCF Marketing Mail Rate is $0.217/pc. If you can get your list to qualify for High Density or better carrier route, then the postage is $0.168/pc or below.

Did they run it as an EDDM – to routes and not specific names/addresses?

The previous vendor may have commingled the mail with other customers mail to get the best presort rate possible and to get most of the mail to SCF pallets.

Hi Marya-  Lynndell and Marc provided some great information on why your client was able to receive the $.217 rate through their prior vendor and as Lynndell stated why the postage could get even lower depending on other factors e.g. carrier route.

If you’re still struggling with the “how” part of your question feel free to give me a call.  We have some online tools that require no upfront investment that will allow you to achieve the results looking for.
