For those of you following HR 756 (Postal Reform), the status of OGR Chairman Jason Chaffetz may becoming clearer. After announcing his intention to not run for reelection, he subsequently indicated that he might not finish out his term. Apparently, his search for alternative employment is the key to when he decides to move on. Late last week we heard that Chaffetz will assume a "substantial role" with the on-air talent at Fox News, possibly as early as July.
No question that Chaffetz has been a key player in moving postal reform legislation forward; however, his announced pending retirement from Congress has left us, and the future of HR 756, up in the air. Clarity regarding a solid path forward is needed. We need to move to the selection of a replacement for Chaffetz as Chairman of OGR as quickly as possible.
