Sad news to report. Jim Prendergast, the long-time Executive Director of Idealliance's New York Chapter passed away on Friday, January 13. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Joy, his children including son Jim and his wife Lesley, his daughter Kerry, his grandson Devin and his partner Laura.
All those who had the privilege to know Jim experienced his unparalleled passion for our industry and his extraordinary commitment to the New York Chapter. Jim has been the "heart and soul" of the chapter for many decades successfully guiding it through many changes and periods of uncertainty. In this time of industry upheaval Jim was the one constant that provided steady guidance and focus. Jim had recently announced his retirement and was looking forward to spending time with his family and other pursuits. The industry and our association has lost a true champion that will be impossible to replace.

While no details related to the funeral have been released at the time of this posting, his family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations in Jim's memory be sent to Doctors Without Borders, or LaSalle Academy, NY, NY.

You are correct Ken, Jim will never be replaced because he was much more than just a chapter director. He was a dear friend to everyone he touched and a true leader in our community. He is responsible for many of us being successful and dedicating our selves to helping others in our industry. I will miss him and think of him often.
God Bless you Jim and Go Rangers!

    This is very sad, indeed.

I knew Jim for over 20 years. He was a friend and a mentor. I have never met anyone with the breadth of knowledge and experience that he had. Jim was always more than willing to share his expertise with anyone who asked (and some who didn't ask).

Jim was the driving force behind, and the guiding light ahead of our New York Chapter. We will miss his leadership and I will miss his wit, his charm, and his inspiration.

    Rest in peace my friend.

    Marc

    Hello everyone,

I was saddened to read of Jim's passing. Although we met relatively recently, I felt like I had known him much longer. The leadership he provided to the community is remarkable.

May he rest in peace. His family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

    Hello everyone-
In case anyone missed it, Denny Hatch wrote a tribute to Jim, which we published on the Target Marketing website. Jim was a founding member of Who's Mailing What's Board of Advisers and served until it ceased print publication in 2009.

    Best,

    Paul
