ROI is very subjective and is difficult to quantify, in the broad sense. The variables are far too many (list quality, content, graphics, etc.) to make definitive statements about it's effectiveness. What can be measured are ROI for specific campaigns.

The facts are that some of the most recognized brands use it and even companies like Google, Amazon, Uber, and more, find direct mail to be a valuable addition to their overall marketing strategies. If it is good enough for these stalwarts of digital communication, it should be good enough for anyone else, too.
