Hi there.  I'm lookiing to update my knowledge on mailing postcards with magnets.  The DMM rules are rather hard to interpret.  Can you mail a postcard with a magnet affixed using the method of hot melt glue?  Or does the magnet have to be affixed with a film or laminate over it?

We have always understood that you either have to laminate over the side of the postcard the magnet is on or fugitive glue it and put it in an envelope.

John is correct. There is also a surcharge on the laminated card since there is plastic, .20 each.

    Hi Julie

The regulations on mailing magnets can't be found in the DMM. The regulations were last posted in the Postal Bulletin in December of 2017.  I've attached a copy of that posting.  If you're unable to open the attachment, e-mail me at george@... and I'll be happy to send you a copy.

    Good luck with this project
