  • 1.  Water Resistance Menu Material that is soft not rigid?

    Posted 02-07-2017 09:38 AM
I currently use a synaps menu that is rigid.  I have had 2 customers get with me on more of a softer feel (Not rigid) water resistant tear resistant material and my paper guys are not having luck finding me a material.

Mohawk makes a synthetic stock that falls into the "Never Tear" classification.  I was doing some test prints a couple weeks ago on this and it prints beautiful. Item number on the sample I have is 90-53329 (though that might be lindenmyer's item number).

Check out PoliPrint, they have a soft lime that almost feels like cotton paper.

We have luck with Fusion Poly Paper. Comes in 7mil, 12mil, 13mil. We use the 12mil. It is a soft plastic instead of the rigid (we use a Mohawk for the rigid). Restaurants love this paper. It lasts them weeks or months to a year instead of hours or days. The paper is not cheap - over $1 per sheet for 12x18 - but can sell for $4-$6 per sheet (4up 6x9s for $1.50 each)

We print these on both our Canons - 7010VP and 6010 (nonVP). I know they will also print on the newer Ricohs (9110 and 7100 series). We occasionally have hiccups with the machines picking up the paper or detecting a double-sheet feed (falsely because of the thickness). But usually runs without issue. We run approximately 2000 sheets per month, usually in batches of 50 - 200.

The stuff is pretty great.  We run it on our color Konica Minolta and have no issues.  Good luck.
