    Does anyone have experience with FusionPro Desktop and Expressiins that can share with me any suggestions in speeding up processing time. We are currently running it ona windows 7 machine and was thinking about trying it on a Mac, but not sure if that will help. Any input would be great!

    Scott,

     

    I have many years of experience with FusionPro.  The performance hit that you are experiencing is most likely do to creating the Imposition where you are taking a file that is sequenced, e.g., 1-1000 and you are having the PTI product create a finished North/South print file.

     

    Two things to consider.  Create a Master Image of the 'Static' artwork from the PDF (integrated FusionPro tool in PDF).  This way you can send the Master Image to the printer so it is held there waiting for the variable data.  Then create your variable PDF by checking the 'Suppress static PDF background in composition' and selecting your Imposition file created with FusionPro Imposer.

     

     

    Another suggestion is to have your Postal Software output the list in North/South order instead of a normal sequence. For example, let's say you are printing your list 6-up on a 13"x19" sheet.  Instead of outputting your list in normal record sequence, 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,etc..., instead, find out from your Postal Software provider if you can output the list in North/South order and choose 6-up (using this example).  Then the records will output as North/South (first sheet) 1,3,5,7,9,11, (second sheet) 2,4,6,8,10,12. 

     

    By outputting the list that you will be Imposing with Fusion ahead of time, this will speed up the creation of the print ready PDF file considerably.

    Yes, get the sever version, install it on a 64 bit machine and give it at least 8GB of memory. We process as much as 100,000 records at a time in minutes, but fast is always relative to what you expect.
