  • 1.  Off-White Stock - Curve Generation

    Posted 03-08-2017 08:15 AM
We had a high-end job on press a few weeks ago that was printed on an off-white sheet (more grey than white) and we noticed that we were losing detail in the shadow areas especially.  I know that I need create a curve for this stock but what should my target points be?  I can establish a solid color target just fine but how do I set a target for the desired dot gain?  It's uncoated stock - should I just target ISO dot gain for 25, 50 and 75%..?  Any advice will be much appreciated!

Why do you need a TVI target? Just calibrate to G7.
G7 determines the optimum NPDC curve automatically for any stock, based on the maximum neutral density you are printing to.
This is one of the many advantages of G7 over the old ISO TVI method, and one of the main reasons Idealliance hasn't included TVI curves or TVI target values in any press calibration or control specification for the last 12 years.

Target CRPC3 because it's uncoated GRACoL. Of course SCCA to your press stock.
