Hello Carol:
You could try using Priority Mail Open and Distribute (PMOD) to ship those trays directly to the DDU's. However, as Rose points out, that will only be effective if the mail is processed at the DDU, which in many cases it is not. If nothing else, you could experiment using PMOD to ship the trays to the SCF that services the DDU's; this would at least get it out of the NDC part of the mailstream.
My suggestion would be to follow Rose's recommendation and if that is not successful, you can experiment using PMOD to see if it helps at all.
I agree with Rose: talk to your BSN and get their input on what might help improve this situation.

Morning Carol
Delivering mail to the DDU isn't practical because mail is no longer processed at the DDU, they would simply back it up to the processing SCF center which would then send it back to the DDU.
I've had these instances sporadically but I've been able to monitor and catch them much earlier now by tracking. When I don't see piece scans simply reaching out to my BSN and asking him to supply me with pallet and tray processing scans. The BSN can look online and supply back to you this data within minutes. Once we find that a pallet has not been broken down we're in immediate contact with that unit asking them where the mail is and why it hasn't been touched. Generally we have results in less than 24 hours, mail is found and moving.
All this assumes you're mailing Full Service which is what has allowed us this visibility.
Hope this helps

Subject: Deliver Trays directly to DDU
Good Morning Everyone,
We recently had a mailing of First Class postcards sit in an NDC for over 10 days before being processed. I've seen this issue posted before. What I'm wondering is if there's a method to 'ship' postal trays directly to local post offices and by-pass the entire USPS sorting & distribution network?
Thanks for any info you can provide.
