Does anyone have a good economical idea of how to get static out of paper going into a printer.  We are printing on decals so there is some heavy coated parts of the paper.  Any ideas would be appreciated.  You may contact me directly.  Thanks

The normal practice is simply to put a copper plated wire brush across the in-feed to to discharge the paper going in.

Fancier solutions may require a corona treater or static eliminator bar (these are sometimes used in the delivery also so that sheets fall rather than float because of static).

Good morning professionals.  I should have explained this question a little better.

We are printing on decals so there is some heavy coated parts of the paper. This pc. is a 8.5x11" with the decal on one half of the paper and regular paper on the other half. This makes the decal side a little higher in the tray.  We've put a 'rig' to even the paper in the feeder. We are putting them in a Konica 1250 and they are so static filled and a little heavy on the decal half that they are having a hard time pulling from the paper tray.  Thank you for any ideas.

    Hi,

In my opinion, you would need an active static remover in this case. This is because the sheets are constantly in touch in the tray. As soon as the m/c tries to pull the top sheet, friction is created which, in turn, leads to static attraction between the sheets.
Some digital presses provide a tray fan or air blower system (similar in principle to an offset feeder) that keeps the sheets separated during feeding. This avoids friction and static attraction between sheets. Meech is a company that provides really good anti-static solutions. You can also check with Konika Minolta if they have an in-tray sheet separator unit that they can install on your m/c (May or may not be economical, but will most probably be effective)
