I've got a project coming up that prints 4-color process on uncoated paper.
The client wants the photos to be as 'glossy as possible'.
Which do you think would print better: MaxGCR or skeleton black?
    I'm thinking skeleton black.

Joseph, if it was a coated stock and we had 320-330 TIL to work with, I'd second your selection of skeleton black. It may be a moot point for uncoated as you will be limited to ~280 TIL for conventional inks.

I have tried pre-printing a white and varnishes for an art book, but either of those was a solution for me. Experiences for others?

Oops, that was a typo. That should have read: "I have tried pre-printing white and varnishes for an art book, but neither of those was a solution for me.
