We recently replaced 3 depleted drums in our OKI envelope printer. The new drums are OEM. The printer continues to read out that the drums are depleted. OKI support's only advice was to try different new drums. I heard that this is a known issue but I got nowhere with support. Has anyone run into this and is there a work around?

I use to work for a retail company with a print area. They had their own brand of a variety of inks and toners and quit often they would do the same thing. Most companies prefer you use their product and the chips on the pieces that tell the machine what their level of use is are never changed out by the companies making the "referbs" so when you put it in quit often it'll throw the error you're getting. it seemed to be more of an issue to some of us that would help sell product, that more often than not we'd sell customers the brand name so they would save time and money of having to drive back to return the refurbished product and have to buy another one. I don't think I'd personally go with parts that aren't comping from the machines manufacturer because of the experience I've had in the past, since you really are not saving money (since time is money).

I have also run into Expiration dates causing cartridges to fail. If you install an outdated cartridge it ill fail. Not sure if that's the case in your situation, but the solution would be to not stock alot on the shelf too long.
Like I said, maybe not your issue, but one other thing to watch out for.
