Epson P9000

We are a G7 certified commercial printer with 6 color 40" presses. I'm just wondering which Epson model to replace my 9900 the P9000 Commercial Edition or the Standard Edition. I understand I can match more PMS Colors with the Violet on the Commercial edition, but what am I losing in with the removal of the Light Light Black?

The light-light black was designed with the photo printing market in mind. You shouldn't need it for proofing. You may not need the violet ink of the Commercial Edition, either, but for package proofing it is preferred.

If you are printing 7c process the P9000 is the better choice. If you print mostly 4c and only a few spots, you may not see as much benefit color wise. If you print many spot colors you could see a benefit.
Expecting that you are using a very fine screen ruling, if you are losing anything not using Light Light Black it will be how smooth very light gradients look as they will have to be using Light Black and fewer dots instead of Light Light Black... If you print with lower line screen visually I don't think you will see the difference.

We are a flexible packaging printer and print a very large portion of our work with 7c process. Our P7000 has a larger color gamut than the 7900 and covers more of the colorspace that our customers use.

We use GMG and calibrate all the proofers for all papers once a week. I feel that the P series proofers are more stable than the x900 series of Epson proofers.

I am not certain exactly what you lose but we purchased the P9000 commercial edition through some random dealer online and found it for just $300 more than the standard edition. If you can find a deal then I would get the commercial edition.  It is a nice machine.
