I hope that Idealliance is working to promote the practices of G7 In the printing industry. It seems that the level of participation has gone down.

People that buy printing should understand the value.

    Hi Bob--

Thank you for your post. The Value of G7 has never been more important than it is today. The demand for G7 Certification, Master Qualification, Process Control, speaking engagements, and G7 Expert engagements is at a peak level worldwide. Our growth is global and incredibly far reaching way beyond the United States. G7 is the most recognized and sought after certification in the world and is being adopted on every continent around the world. The demand for G7 is from Print Buyers, Brands, Print Service Providers and OEMs. We have certification programs that literally touch every print medium because G7, unlike any other certification in the world, works for every single print medium in the world. Idealliance and G7 are consistently mentioned in industry magazines, social media, webinars, and press releases around the world.

With the explosive growth in technology, as we refer to as the 4th Industrial Revolution, driven by inkjet both high speed web and cut sheet, but also industrial, dye-sublimation, specialty printing, not to mention the incredible growth in packaging that is demanding unparalleled excellence from their supply chain be it in flexo, offset, screen, digital inkjet, electrophotography, gravure, specialty inkjet, and industrial; G7 is the ONLY certification that crosses all these divides and is omni-channel,, not to mention its unrivaled success in the fact that it is well proven methodology that works to the highest levels as noted by the thousands of users worldwide. Print Buyers choose G7 Print Service Providers because they are G7 Master Qualified Facilities over non-certified facilities because they know they have the highest color management process control systems in place and have rigorous quality control throughout their facilities. "What gets measured, gets managed." In today's world of printing, the demand for quality, the growth in technology, the choices that customers have available to them, if a customer cannot hit colors consistently time and time again, with incredible repeat-ability, then they are not managing what they should be measuring. The expansion of G7 is explosive right now. Idealliance and our strategic working groups brought the world GRACoL and SWOP, which are the world standard specifications in printing. The backbone of these specifications is G7. There is literally no other certification program in the world that crosses all print mediums, is the most sought after and recognized certification in the world, and works so well that OEMs put G7 into their software and more and more technology is being developed around G7 world-wide.

My take on it, locally, is that the requirements to legitimately be G7 have gone up, as they should, so some of the people with an ink or plate vendor running in for a half day gray balance are now dropping off.

I know there has been a lot of discussion about making it more difficult to be a G7 Master Printer. We have made it better. We added the affidavit, the QR Code and the different qualification types. That helped but I would like to add the requirements of a G7 Master to list the print devices and be required to produce a qualified print on all devices that print 4-color process. This would ensure that not just one substrate and one print is all they ever calibrate. I think that is a problem that should be fixed.

My take is that designer and ad agencies don't understand the value for customers buying printing , To have color management that works.

That's why it not more wide spread across the printing industry. If customers were asking their printers, what they do for color management ,to make sure they were able to match the color when reprinting the job next time. They would learn the value it brings to them.

We must do a better job of promoting G7. The Printing industry of American should be talking about it as well. It not just about new equipment
that improves quality for customers. It is color management.
