On Thursday, the House is expected to hear legislation (HR 3309) on "Patent Trolls" or patent assertion entities (PAEs), which exist solely to sue other companies for patent infringement. The bill would impose new rules governing patent infringement lawsuits, taking aim at these entities that sue in order to win licensing fees or legal settlements, even though they don’t make any products or provide any services themselves.
