  • 1.  Tracking Bulk Mail

    Posted 04-08-2019 04:41 PM

We mail out standard presorted flats everyday, all day long, all over the country.  The number one complaint I get from my clients is, "My publication hasn't been delivered and it's been over two weeks" or "My publication wasn't delivered to these addresses [insert list]."

Has anyone had any successful luck with using any tracking tools to help locate where mailing goes?!?!

I would love to know how to satisfy my clients when they have those questions!

    Thanks!

    Angela

We use Accuzip with Accutrace. It works well and can track down to individual mail pieces.

Angela - many vendors offer mail tracking using the USPS Informed Visibility data. I would be glad to explain our offering if you'd like to contact me.
There are also vendors listed on postalpro.usps.com - Informed Visibility® Mail Tracking & Reporting (IV®-MTR) | PostalPro

    Thank you

So, when you have a customer that says "Where is Bob's Car Wash's copy of my newsletter?!" you have been able to search and find where it is in the mail stream?

Yes. With Accutrace you find the serial number (barcode digits) in your list, then search for it in the tracking page. It will show you every scan by the USPS

Are these flats being pre-sorted? If so you may want to leverage the tools that your presort software vendor provides. We have had very good success with BCC Track and Trace. AccuZIP also has tools...

To answer your question more directly -  USPS Informed Visibility for flats is getting better by the month. It is not as good as letters (for a lot of reasons). BUT it is good enough to be "delivery insurance" at the project level rather than the piece level. It is also very important data that the USPS will need if you do have an issue.

Let me know if this helps.

We use BCC software, and I'me researching into their Track and Trace features.  I'm starting to use the USPS IV as well, still navigating that.
