  • 1.  Printed items compliancy for Proposition 65 for CA

    Posted 01-09-2019 01:50 PM
Our client has requested that we fill out paperwork regarding compliancy for Proposition 65 for CA for offset and digital printed materials.  There is a Carbon Black component that is in our ink and toner.  Are there any California printers that can advise for optional materials and for help to help guide us thru this process.

    Thanks,

    Hello Steve,
If you are only supplying printed materials and not the toner itself, it's likely that you do not need to report the carbon black. Please see the attached document I found online from Cabot, a major manufacturer of carbon black pigment.
From their document: "carbon black (airborne, unbound particles of respirable size)" is a California Proposition 65 listed substance. Please note that all three listing qualifiers (airborne, unbound (not bound within a matrix), and respirable size (10 micrometers or less in diameter)) must be met for this substance to be considered a Proposition 65 substance."
    Best regards,
