Subject: X-rite Exact readings compared to visual represntation
I'm using my Exact Advanced spectrophotometer (with a Pantone library loaded) to color match some spot colors. The color that measures closest to my target (PMS 438) measures a delta of 0.8 but visually is pretty far off. See attached photo. Heck, even when I use the book's patch as a measured reference, that patch still reads around 1.5.
In the end, I know we want to select what looks the best, I get it. But I need to understand why it's visually so different. Can anyone here explain why the 2 patches look so different even though they measure nearly identical LAB values? (Yes, I've looked at them under different lighting conditions as well.)
