Does anyone in this group use XMF and/or XMF color management, specifically ColorPath Organizer?

    Hello Robin,

Feel free to reach out to me directly if you have any question. I work out of Canada but can put you in touch with one of our US specialists if required. ColorPath has great integration into XMF. A very user-friendly workflow with very powerful results.

We have a Learning session coming up. I would suggest that you start with the learning session to see if it answers your questions.

Angus, Thank you for responding. I'm copying the background info that I sent to an earlier respondent. If you have any further comment based on this info, it is welcome. I will look into the ColorPath Webinar. We use ColorPath Organizer.

We are a sheetfed offset printer and prepress prepares all incoming files through Enfocus Pitstop.  All files are color managed based on two paper types, (coated or uncoated using GRACoL2013_CRPC-3 or CRPC-6), then are put into a layout exported from Metrix to XMF. Basically, XMF should just be separating these files as they are, meaning a cmyk build should read the same on the plates as what is put into XMF (minus the plate curves for achieving G7 gray balance and dot gain).

We were having an issue with a color build not reading as expected in XMF on a particular job, so we called XMF for support. XMF support said our Media Options were not set correctly, but they've been set the same way for the last 8 or so years.

This isn't the complete story, but I thought I would reach out to see how anyone else uses XMF as a RIP and see how they are set up.

    Thanks, Robin

I use Fujifilm XMF and Color Path.

I was recently having a similar issue with XMF. A brand color build was shifting that wasn't accounted for in the G7 curve.

When I talked with Fujifilm, we discovered when we were set up, there was a "Convert to Press Color Space" option that was checked in the Press Media options.

This was how the Fujifilm tech set us up originally (we have been running XMF for 8 years), but they no longer recommend this.

Turning this option off resolved our problem.

    Hi Kai,

The Convert to Press Color Space is used with "Use Job Settings," we use "Use Media Profile Settings" with the Paper Type and the Media Profile for the G7 and dot gain curves. We really don't want to use any XMF Color Management other than the plate curves for a specific press. All of our files are color managed prior to entering XMF.

I was told by a tech that "Use Media Profile Settings" was not the correct set-up, but we've been set this way for years. The Press Color Color Space is set to GRACoL2013_CRPC6 regardless of the paper type (coated or uncoated). When the Press Color Space was changed to CRPC3, the numbers of a specific build were not at all what was in the file.

I had another discussion with XMF tech support about our issue, and had put together several screenshots showing the cmyk build results to each setting. I sent them to XMF for review and I haven't heard back, yet.

I was curious how others had their XMF set up and have talked to two other people, but after I explain the issue, I haven't hear anything else.

    Thanks for responding,
    Robin
