    Hi all,

    We have in a new 40" press with LED inks. I have never worked with LED inks on profiling a press so was wondering if anyone else has and additional insight.

    They are Toka UV-OFS-LED (yellow) NA-M. Any advice is helpful.

    To my knowledge, LED inks refers to the way the inks are dried on the paper.
    It is like "UV"' inks. I've worked with LED inks in the past, on spot color packaging projects.
    As far as G7-calibrating the press goes, I don't see what kind of hardships they woiuld create for you.
    Pop that P2P51 target in, print with linear plates, measure and away you go.

    Some people have ALL the fun, it ain't fait :-)

    Hi Jason, 
    Pay close attention to the LAB values of the inks. In particular the black ink! I have been seeing black inks with DeltaE's well over 3.0. This makes it difficult to match proofs and run any GCR software. If LED inks are new to you and your company, pay attention to the "overprints". Higher dosing of the founts may be fine with conventional inks but will be problematic with LED inks. Make sure the press is not running excessive ink to get correct LAB values! The "tailing" and slurring caused by excessive ink film will make it difficult to keep the press stable and repeatable. If you cannot achieve passing LAB values without "slurring" the ink "STOP" and make the ink company fix the ink!
